What does fossick mean?

fossick [VERB]

Definition:
to “ferret out”, to dig persistently for something worth keeping.
Pronounced:
foss-sick
Etymology:
British dialect, 19th century. Adopted in Australia during the gold rush to describe rummaging or searching by hand.
Our definition:
We're not digging for gold or gemstones. We unearth ideas and distill them to their most tangible. Putting them into structures to create products and services that communicate with clarity.

Ideas are essentially chemistry. Through a series of electrochemical processes, ideas appear from a soft pink blob in our head? We think that's kinda magical. We like to operate in the space between logic and magic—tangible to intangible.

Building clarity before we build anything, we use the framework to capture, question and place nuggets of thinking. Every detail matters. Every interaction counts. Every idea plays a part.

A product without a brand is just a thing. Branding without a product is just art. Get the core idea right, and it keeps paying off — sparking more ideas, connecting them, and helping shape brand experience.

As optimistic, interdisciplinary creatives, we explore speculative ideas with people looking forwards — learning from future-thinkers and collaborating with domain experts to define what’s next. This is our ‘creative hit list’:

Energy Storage

Accelerating renewables depends on how we capture and store energy. We’re keen to work alongside energy experts to design the hardware and software that make these systems usable, and communicate why they matter and how they work so adoption feels obvious, not optional.

Reuse Systems

Reducing waste relies on making reuse more convenient than single-use — changing behaviour and policy with it. We’re keen to continue helping people design systems that support and incentivise reuse, so participation is convenient.

Public Transport

We’d love to work with planners and engineers to make public transport the easier choice. Designing infrastructure, creating systems and communicating the why — making transport more convenient, comfortable and accessible.

Carbon Transparency

Cutting emissions starts with making carbon visible. We’d love to work with climate specialists to translate data into information people can see — enabling the public to hold big companies accountable for their environmental impact.

Health Literacy

A lot of big health issues are preventable. We’d love to work with clinicians and researchers to design tools that translate evidence into clear guidance, helping people understand their bodies and make informed decisions around sleep, movement and nutrition.

Regenerative Agriculture

How we grow food shapes our future. We’d love to work with farmers, scientists and inventors on systems that make regenerative practices viable at scale, creating solutions that restore soil, increase biodiversity and communicate why it matters.

Personal Finance

Finances shouldn’t be overwhelming, money can be stressful because it’s unclear. We’d love to work with founders to develop tools that provide financial clarity. Helping people understand where they stand, explore their options and create customised and flexible financial plans.
